The restaurant accommodated our large party of 8 at the last minute, and we were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the fresh ingredients and the fact that the dishes stayed true to Italian traditions. The service was excellent. Their pizza was outstanding, especially the special pizza with a variety of cheeses - it was mouth-watering. The Pomodoro pasta was delicious, and the dessert, pistachio ricotta, was equally outstanding.

Found Michael's on Resy. I love the aesthetics of the restaurant; I really felt like I was back on vacation in Italy. My husband and I shared the garden vegetable pizza with gluten free crust and shrimp and clam diavola with pasta. The food is absolutely delicious. The flavors are rich while providing a home cooked feeling.

I ordered a Margherita pizza to-go from Michael's Downtown after craving a thin Naples style pizza. I know this kind of pizza is best eaten fresh out the oven with a fork and knife right where you buy it, and though it suffered some cosmetic mishap on the journey home, it was still really good! The pizza dough/crust had a nice texture that I hope for with these kinds of pizzas, and the ingredients tasted fresh. You can't really tell from the outside because the interior of the restaurant is a bit hidden, but it's actually really cute inside. I can see myself dining-in with friends or for a special occasion. Looking forward to coming by again to try their pastas and cocktails next time! There's a parking lot on 3rd Street right by the restaurant where you can park for free for the first two hours. Makes it super convenient!

I've never really dined anywhere on the Promenade that wasn't a quick stop or a giant group meal for whatever reason. So Michael's was probably the first time I actually dined in with a small group of friends for a meal. My one issue with restaurants in general, and it's a personal problem, is that I want to sample everything! I try to keep my bill down, but in a group setting, it's easy to excuse buying more so I can share. In this case, I saw a lot of items I wanted to try. I started off with an espresso martini that hit a little strong. Whether you like that or not, it's subjective. At least it didn't have the excessive syrupy taste you get from a bad espresso martini. The wood fired vegetables were a surprise hit! Perfectly roasted and seasoned, it's rare for me to give this much praise to vegetables. The polpette was amazing. The fresh basil leaves helped enhance the flavor of the sauce and the polpette themselves. Finally, the pesto cauliflower pizza was solid, but it didn't have as much wow factor for me as the two starters. For me, and it's a personal preference, if that EVOO had been spread to the crust edge, I think it would've been better. The crust edges themselves were meh but it's rare for me to find a pizza that has really good crust edges. A little pricey of a meal, but solid. Would not mind coming back

So, here's the scoop: We had a long day at work and were starving, right? We tried hitting up Padre, but no dice - kitchen was closed. Bummer, right? But then we remembered Michael's, and man, that place never disappoints. We've been there before, so we knew the food would be top-notch. We ended up getting a killer combo - lasagna, pizza, and a bottle of wine. And let me tell you, it hit the spot. The best part? Sitting at the bar, watching the chefs work their magic. It's like a live cooking show, but better, because you get to eat the delicious results. And get this - they're open late! For those of us burning the midnight oil, it's a lifesaver. No more settling for fast food or eating in - Michael's offers a cozy spot to unwind and enjoy a real meal. Oh, and pro tip: Don't skip the espresso at the end. It's the perfect way to wrap up a fantastic meal. So yeah, if you're ever in the neighborhood and need a bite to eat, Michael's is the spot to hit up. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Stopped here for our anniversary dinner. Sat down right away. The staff and our waiter were extremely pleasant and welcoming. I really like the fact that they were able to accommodate my boyfriend's tomato allergy and give him the pizza he wanted with a different base.I really appreciated that. The food was amazing. Our pasta, the pizza and the beet salad were all mouthwatering. The amazing food along with the amazing staff will definitely have us coming back again.

Great spot for dinner with friends! We were craving Italian and just a few days prior I had bookmarked Michael's Downtown. It was about 6pm when we checked the website for reservations and the earliest we could book a ressie was 8:15pm. So we called ahead to find out how long the wait would be without a ressie. They said that our party of 5 would get outdoor seating right away. So we headed straight to Downtown Long Beach. True to word, they sat us on the covered patio upon arrival. There was a heat lamp above one side of the table and they brought a floor heat lamp on the other side of the table. It was cozy enough to eventually remove our jackets during a chilly-rainy Saturday night. The Limoncello Lemon Drop is a must have! Not overly sweet and great flavor! https://bit.ly/4bi4WbK I was impressed by the variety of veggies used in the Wood-Fired Vegetables. It contained a variety of cruciferous vegetables including cauliflower (white, orange, green, and purple) and broccoli topped with kale chips. https://bit.ly/3UEOhtd The Grain Bowl was very satisfying. It contains 3 types of grain (quinoa, black rice, and wheat berry) and 2 types of protein (chickpeas, cannellini beans, and lentils.) It also came with more seasonal veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and kale chips) and avocado with a drizzle of balsamic glaze. There was a lot of thought put into this dish because every single aspect of this bowl was seasoned very well. Great flavors and very filling! The portion size is so generous that my leftovers made a full 2nd meal. https://bit.ly/3Ql5oxS Yummy dinner, nice atmosphere, awesome service! Will gladly eat here again. Located on the promenade, we parked in the City garage which offers 2-hours free parking.

Amazing appetizers, great service and solid option for a party of 4-6! My friends and I went on a cold Saturday evening at around 6pm with no reservation. We were able to sit outside (no wait) and luckily, they had heat lamps, which made the dinner very comfortable. Limoncello Lemon Drop 5/5 I love limoncello so I knew I'd enjoy this cocktail! Eggplant Polpette 5/5 I didn't know what that was at first but when I read the description on the menu, it sounded bomb. And when I got a bite of it, it tasted DELICIOUS!!! Kind of wish we had ordered another one lol Wood-Fired Vegetables 5/5 perfect blend of brocoli, cauliflower and fried kale. Super yummy Mushroom & Taleggio 3/5 when I'd grab a slice, all the toppings would slide and fall, it was the weirdest thing. I was super excited for that one since I love mushrooms but it was bit disappointing Bolognese 3.5/5 the pasta was slightly overcooked :( Service was on point 5/5 we got our dishes quickly, our waiter kept checking in on us, took our plates timely when we were done so we'd have more room on the table, and we got to-go boxes at the end. We never had to wait too long for him not come back. He was very friendly and efficient. Thank you Michael's! I'd def come back and try other dishes! :)

It was a bit confusing on how to get seated or where to enter. The server who saw us was quick to help us so we weren't standing wondering for long at all! We were quickly seated for a party of two on a Saturday night. Our waitress was very kind and upbeat! She recommended a drink that was delicious and also the pasta I chose was thanks to her guidance. We ordered: Tiramisu Cocktail Blood Orange Old Fashioned Eggplant Polpette Salame Piccante Pizza Squash and Ricotta Gnocchi with Oxtail Ragu Everything was delicious and our waitress recommended the house Calabrian chili oil which elevated all the food! I do have to say although delicious, it didn't have a menu item that I was dying to try! But for someone not looking for something innovative that has got the basics and has perfected them, this is that place. It has a lively vibe and the music was perfect! Lots of nods to Long Beach. Perfect for a casual date night and a girls night out.
